Wickershams

The Wickershams are a family of thousands of monkeys from the Jungle of Nool who are Horton's tormentors, along with Vlad Vladikoff and Jane Kangaroo.

Biography[]

They are known to stop Horton from talking to a deck speck assuming he is nuts. So they took action to get him some help by taking the flower away from him. Later, Jane Kangaroo gets word from Vlad Vladikoff that Horton was in the flowers looking for the flower he dropped to mix with the others, so Jane calls the Wickersham brothers who get assistance from their cousins, uncles, aunts, sisters, and more brothers and in-laws to stop Horton who later finds the flower he lost. After they tormented and beaten him try tried to put him in a cage minutes later after the "yopp" sound, they all stopped what they were doing realizing Horton was right all along about whos on a small flower.

The Wubbulous World of Dr. Seuss[]

The Wickershams appear in The Wubbulous World of Dr. Seuss. At first, they serve as the main comic relief characters and extras of the first season, due to tending to be portrayed as clumsy louts who talk in Hulk Speak, a far cry from the clever simians they were in the book. But in Season 2, they are minor characters who only appear in the Jungle of Nool segments, despite still having clumsy antics.

All three of them are performed by John E. Kennedy in the Season 1 theme song, "The Gink", "The Simplifier", "Mrs. Zabarelli's Holiday Baton", "Max the Hero", "Almost There", "The Muckster", "Yertle the King", and "Halfway Home to Malamaroo", Bruce Lanoil in "Who Are You, Sue Snue?", "The Snoozer", "The Mystery of Winna-Bango Falls", "Norval the Great", and "Horton Has a Hit", Anthony Asbury in "The King's Beard" and "The Guest", and Tim Lagasse in Season 2.

At the start of production, Anthony Asbury was selected to portray the Wickershams, but after puppeteering them in two episodes "The King's Beard" and "The Guest", Asbury got fired (due to puppeteering other characters) and replaced by John Kennedy, who becomes their main performer for the rest of the series. Bruce Lanoil is the secondary performer for the Wickershams, puppeteering them in five episodes. Kennedy also puppeteers them in the theme song in Season 1. After the first season ends, Tim Lagasse replaces both Kennedy and Lanoil, puppeteering them throughout the second season.

Outside of Dr. Seuss[]

One of the Whickersham puppets from The Wubbulous World of Dr. Seuss made appearances on Sesame Street from 2005 since, including the NASCAR parody sketch on Episode 4154, which aired six months before the film adaption of Horton Hears a Who! released, and the segment was released in the same year on Count on Sports before the film's official home video release on December 9, who works as part of the greasemonkey crew to repair Count Billy Bob Von Count Jr's race car while refusing to race, and instead counting the cars driving by, and on India Arie's version of the jumping song for the Healthy Habits for Life video Happy Healthy Monsters (performed by David Rudman) joining with India Arie, a rabbit, Horatio, and a frog to encourage children healthy exercising habits with jumping.
